Artist Biography

Laura Rebecca (her real name) is a writer, editor, former teacher, and artist originally from New York who now calls Los Angeles home. She is a graduate of Hofstra University, USC, and has attended the NY Film Academy. 

Laura writes mostly essays, flash fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry, and her writing has appeared in CultureSonar, Medium, NowWithPurpose, HaikuPause, Poetizer, and in her Substack newsletter, You’re Like a Cartoon Character. 

Artist Statement

Laura has also drawn comics since she could hold a pen and hosts her illustrated journal on Substack. Laura often incorporates drawings, photos and moving images in her written work, and her visual art has been featured in the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery and the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. Her favorite subjects are people and things in everyday life: ordinary subjects with extraordinary stories.
